JPG to WebP conversion, done locally

WebP is a modern image format developed for the web. Compared with JPG, it delivers similar or better quality at a smaller file size, which is why it has become a standard for fast websites. This tool converts your JPG or JPEG files to WebP right in the browser.

How to use it

The output format above is already set to WebP. Drop in your JPGs, optionally set a target KB size, and press Compress. You'll see the original and new sizes side by side, then you can download.

When to keep JPG instead

If you're uploading to an older system that only accepts JPG, stick with JPG. For anything on the modern web — your own website, a blog, a portfolio — WebP is almost always the better choice.

As with every PixelPress tool, conversion happens on your device and nothing is uploaded.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything about compressing images to an exact size.

Why convert JPG to WebP?

WebP uses more advanced compression than JPG, so it reaches the same visual quality in a smaller file. That means faster page loads and lighter uploads. It's supported by all modern browsers.

Do I have to set a target size?

No. Leave the target size empty to simply convert at high quality, or enter a KB value if you also need the file under a specific size.

Will I lose quality converting to WebP?

Converting re-encodes the image once. At high quality the difference is hard to see, and WebP usually looks better than a JPG of the same file size.

Can I convert many JPGs at once?

Yes — add a batch, convert them all, and download everything as a single ZIP.
