What happens to transparency

Because JPG has no alpha channel, PixelPress flattens transparent regions onto a clean white background during conversion. If preserving transparency matters, choose WebP instead, which keeps the alpha channel while still compressing well.

Why is my PNG so large?

PNG is lossless, so it stores full detail without discarding anything. That's great for sharp graphics but makes photographs very large. Converting a photo-like PNG to JPG can cut the size by 80% or more.

Will I lose transparency?

JPG does not support transparency. When converting, PixelPress places any transparent areas on a white background so they don't turn black. If you need transparency, keep PNG or use WebP.

Can I hit an exact KB size?

Yes. Because the output is JPG, you can set a target such as 100KB and PixelPress will find the best quality that fits.

Is the conversion private?

Completely. The PNG is decoded and re-encoded inside your browser; it is never sent anywhere.
